It is, but how much do you need to use, how would you refine it, how efficient would it be?

More questions than answers, It really isn't that easy to make aspirin.

http://chemistry.about.com/od/demonstra ... spirin.htm
Aspirin is the most widely used over-the-counter drug in the world. The average tablet contains about 325 milligrams of acetylsalicylic acid with an inert binding material such as starch. Aspirin is used to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and lower fever. Aspirin originally was derived by boiling the bark of the white willow tree. Although the salicin in willow bark has analgesic properties, purified salicylic acid was bitter and irritating when taken orally. Salicylic acid was neutralized with sodium to produce sodium salicylate, which was better-tasting but still irritated the stomach. Salicylic acid could be modified to produce phenylsalicylate, which was better tasting and less irritating, but released the toxic substance phenol when metabolized. Felix Hoffman and Arthur Eichengrün first synthesized the active ingredient in aspirin, acetylsalicylic acid, in 1893.

This sounds incredibly dangerous, unless you truly know what you're doing.

Aren't antibiotics made from bacteria? How are you going to culture the right bacteria in controlled conditions?

Herbal and natural medicines are one thing, but making your own antibiotics is another.

Ok, the things listed in the OP are NOT antibiotic - they're antibacterial, it's different. They work in different ways.

Antibiotics, like penicillin, are taken from molds, as has been said on other posts. In fact, if you want to be precise about it, penicillin is akin to mold pee; the mold produces penicillin as a defence against other molds and bacteria in the area, and it's that excretion which is penicillin.

Aspirin. You're never going to process something that looks like the aspirin you can buy in the shop. You can, however, make a decoction that will do roughly the same job. It's going to taste nasty. Really nasty. But it WILL work. Just need to do the appropriate research on things like bark to water ratio and how long to steep it for.

These things are useful to know for a SHTF scenario. But I wouldn't recommend trying them in RL, not unless you REALLY know what you're doing. Simple stuff, yes, crack on. Short Circuit, if you want to send me a PM about your legs, giving details, I'd be happy to see if I know of anything that would help. There may be things other than honey. Learn about the complex stuff. Make notes, write things down, learn how to process into tablets etc etc. Then tuck it away in the back of your mind as something useful but not for now.

Just for the record, both honey and garlic are highly antibacterial, as long as the honey hasn't been processed to death and the garlic isn't covered in pesticide/herbicide, from a commercial grower. In WWI, pulped garlic was used on field dressings to help guard against infection. Best place to get honey is from a local beekeeper, best garlic is to grow your own.

The other herb I don't see mentioned that's very useful for infections is echinacea. You can use that now - it's excellent. Not just for coughs and colds. My wee seeds are upstairs sprouting merrily, and later in the year, I'll process them into tablet form, ready for the coughs and colds of the winter.

Your best defences against infection are good basic hygiene and a decent diet. Your body should take care of the rest for you.

Though I can't officially recommend them, there are high quality antibiotics of numerous types available openly from the US for treatment of fish tanks!....

I have a jar of high strength 'Fish Mox Forte'....

Now, the US veterinary regulators ensure this type of medication is of the highest possible quality and, apparently, is identical to the stuff produced for human use.

Of course this IS NOT FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION!

(Despite everything you may read to the contrary on a number of US forums....)

You can easily get erythromycin and metronidazole from the vets for marine fish treatment no different than human equivalent.
