Or a 12v battery and a jump lead/flying lead, but it depends how long you are hoping to run it for.

car battery 12v with a inline fuse or a cb power supplie also on ebay a mobile antenna will get you out about five miles a silver rod will get you out about 20 miles plus on the house roof car batterys are ok as back up but a 3-5amp dc regulated power supplie is better if you are going to spend time on it what make have you got?
one here;

you can make a CB aerial with the following items

18 feet of multistrand wire or 9 feet of twin speaker wire,
A piece of chocolate block with three double terminals Brass terminals preferable.
a thick peace of plastic e.g. Perspex, nylon etc. Part of a cutting/chopping board
a suitable length of rg 58 co-ax cable. Available from Maplins, Ebay, and many others
a compression pl259 plug. Available from Maplins, Ebay, and many others
Paracord.

TOOLS.
Wire cutters
small screw driver
Soldering Iron
Drill and appropriate bits
SWR meter

method:

the plastic will for the center of the dipole and the end insulators. cut the plastic into three oblongs about three inches by one inch, take two of the oblong of plastic and drill a hole 1/4 inch from the edge on the centreline at both of the long sides, set aside as the will be used for the insulators later. see http://w4zt.com/antennas/pwire/PA251168t.JPG

the Last piece of Plastic which will form the centre should be drilled the same with an additional hole drilled in the centre for co-ax to feed through.

next take your wire and measure it out into two lengths 8.5 feet long add two inches to each, the exact formula is 468/frequency(mhz)/2=length of each wire in feet. take the centre and thread the wire through the end holes one wire to each side.

secure the choc block above the centre hole with appropriate screws.
strip the insulation from each of your wires on one ended and secure to the nearest outside terminal of the choc-block

take the other end of both the wire and thread through the insulators and secure

you should now have the basis of a dipole aerial for your CB. http://w4zt.com/antennas/pwire/Pa251162t.jpg

Next take you Co-axial cable and strip one end of the insulation back by one inch be careful because you need to prevent cutting the braided wire under it. Make a pigtail of the Braided wire. Now remove 3/4 of an inch of the inner insulation to expose the centre wire. Now connect the braid to one side of the choc-block and the centre conductor to the other side.

The final task is to prepare the other end of the coax for soldering on the PL250 Plug. thread the nut and washers from the compression 259 plug over the coax, set the cup to one side. strip the outer insulation for one and 1/2 inches
exposing the braid. fold back the braid and thread on the cup and remove one and 1/4 inches of the centre conductor insulation. thread the expose centre wire through the centre pin of the PL259 and solder it in place. Now slide the nut and washers down to the top of the plug and tighten the nut to the body of the PL 259.

Attach a length of Para cord to other end of each insulators. throw Para cord over a suitable Tree Branch or structure and Raise dipole into the air

Connect to a swr meter and CB radio and check the SWR, adjust wire elements for correct SWR reading.

Nice info on aerials, how about the power supply in the OP though ;)

It can be done, but is not 'good Practice'

this looks to be a good buy http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKYTRONIC-2-5 ... %26ps%3D54
