New Member Intro

Post by beavy69 »

Hi everyone, I've just registered as a new member (I'm 27 and from Dorset).

I've been researching various prepping related subjects more and more in the last year and have come to realize that prepping encompasses many of my interests and beliefs:

1) What am I prepping for?

a) My general philosophy is that everything must balance, whether it be chemical reactions, the economy, or the compromises involved in making a good survival kit (e.g. weight Vs usefulness). I think in terms of the environment and economy, this balance is well overdue being redressed.

b) I love trying to find improvements/modifications in things whether it be kit/vehicles, techniques or ways of living. I also believe in self reliance; its more rewarding and makes your a freer person.

So with everything being rather unbalanced and people relying blindly on a failing system, I'm prepping to survive through the sudden and turbulent adjustment period the other 99% will have to make. We can live better and support an ever growing population but most people don't even believe or realize they need to.

2) What other reasons have I begun prepping for?

My girlfriend who I live with is not actively on board yet (he says optimistically); In terms of the many ways we are controlled and manipulated, she tends to favour the more widely accepted reasons (its safer/better for society etc). And as far as oil is concerned she believes it wont happen in our lifetime. This could well be true so another reason I've begun prepping is for our children (when they come along).

I also love the outdoors, playing with new kit, having a 2nd or 3rd option for everything, looking after pepople, eating (especially), organizing and planning and integrating all the above and having fun with it. I'm here to learn and share and possibly network too.

So thanks for reading and sorry it was a bit long (that's as concise as I could make it).

Welcome, beavy, I liked your intro post. Balance! Not often you hear preppers talk about balance, but you're right.
