Why doesn't each of us grow what we like to eat?! That would be my suggestion... :D

And every time you do a shop, price that one thing and put by the money it would've cost. That money can go to new preps.
Tomatoes are dead easy if you have a south facing window, they just grow themselves .
Lil I'm gonna have a go with salad stuff - I eat salad almost every day in the summer, and it will save me a fortune. And garlic, and some tatties. And herbs in pots on my windowsill.

Hmmmmm, I think that's more than one thing... :?

for a treat if you have eggs you can make meranges from thw white and lemon curd from the yolks. Honey and strawberries with fresh cream is nice 8-)

I dont like broad beans or broccoli though, I bloody hate the stuff. No point BP in growing stuff you wont eat eh ? Hmmm.... that means I should grow a field of strawberries then  I love them. Lettuce yes I will do them because they cost money and I want to cut down spending on food. Salad greens if I dont eat then I throw into soup. I put everything into soup  Every little helps !
Remember my growing season is a lot shorter than yours, I never heard of anybody growing squash here. Kale is bloody gruesome but it will grow when nothing else does and goes in soup..
Later on in spring we could make this a proper challenge and take pics of our efforts ? Every tiny thing gives you back some control over your life !!
