havnt tried it yet but i made a couple from multiple shoots of bamboo, works quite well to be honest.

I made a PVC bow last year and it shoots very well. Made my own arrows as well. It's a good effective use of simple materials

I quite fancy having a go at a Mollegabet type bow that you cut from a flat board, check this vid, he has others, can ramble a bit, but its all there.
