When I was a Member of HM Royal Marines, we tended to buy our own boots. MOD kit was shite. Perhaps things have changed.

My son is a serving Royal Marines Commando - his issue kit for his OP Herrick 14 Deployment (2011) was top knotch. Issue boots were Meindls. This didnt stop him from buying a pair of Lowas and a pair of GSG9's loljansman wrote:When I was a Member of HM Royal Marines, we tended to buy our own boots. MOD kit was shite. I was about to buy a pair of Lowa Desert Boots, £175 (gulp), but my wallet made me search round for a cheaper alternative.
Eventually bought a pair of Chinese made (yes I did worry) "Grafters" combat boots. Saved well over £100 and so far, they have proved excellent. Well made, sturdy and a veritable bargain....
