I can recommend this company, UK based and quick turn round on orders.

Well, I bought the Baofeng.
£45 for handset, desktop charger, speaker/mic, earpiece, programming cable/software and postage!
I can imagine being able to hear all the action that I'll want to do my foundation licence soon, bit the main hurdle is smuggling it into the house without the wife noticing :-D

Wow, great list. Thanks 8-)
Gonna wait for it to be delivered and then sit down, read the destructions and then do a bit more research.

Same seller funnily enough.
THIS is the one I got though. It's the newer version apparently. Mine also came with a speaker mic in the bundle (coiled cable and speaker/mic to attach to upper clothing if ya know what I mean?)

Anyone considering buying these radios might also like consider buying the programming lead and down loading the software. It is a lot easier and quicker than using the key pad.

The radio landed yesterday, and it looks like a pretty well made piece of kit.
I couldn't resist, so quickly shoved the battery in and set it to scan. I got a few bits on it :) but not a lot.
I'll have a better look at the software later, but it looked a bit hard for my  I'll do a bit more research, but have printed off a few frequencies to try out over the next few days.

Also looked into the Foundation License. For less than 30 quid it would be daft not to do it. 8-)

Madgaz, i found this really nice to do so you get your head in the right mindset for what it is you will be doing in the course, just keep doing the moc, you will be surprised just how much you understand already. :D

I'm not sure where you are, but just leave it set to 145.500, its the calling chanel, you are bound to hear someone in the end, also find your closest repeater, i'm asuming its duel listen? Program them both in and see what you get, PM me where you are and i can help if you like.
