Triffid-brilliant!
Cougar, it is a wood related time. I split a load more today. Set out a load of leeks and traded two dozen eggs for a load of hinges and screws I need, from my builder-neighbour.

My lovely Wife can spend for England. The moment we went t*ts up, she went into Lockdown!

What a Woman!

I've recently started a workout regimen and intend sticking to it. Not that I didn't stick to the other ones. I simply chose to focus my energies on other issues.

Over bank holiday I planted 10 plugs of lettuce , 10 cauli, and 10 cabbage. I also put my final batch of spuds in the ground, sowed some more carrots and sorted out the contents of one of my compost bins (made from scrounged pallets). I'm bringing down to the allotment all my rabbit hutch waste now for composting. Suddenly I am seeing the result of a year and half's work from a barren, lumpy bit of grass to a fenced, almost up and running allotment. Mistakes from last season are being learnt. So part of this week's preps was taking stock and seeing where to go from here to make my small patch more productive and self sufficient.

Had a rare trip to Ikea yesterday (it's 2 hours away!) and found a few bits and pieces while furniture shopping!! A fire blanket, batteries, labels, candles - random items! And my biggest prep of the month today - my pneumonia jab!!

Last weekend I got myself a cheap mini greenhouse and planted a ton of seeds in it. It's also currently a wind shelter for the plants I bought last week until I get their bigger, heavier pots sorted out (hopefully this weekend). The radishes have started to sprout which has made me exceptionally happy and the pepper and aubergine plants have taken very well to their greenhouse home.

Downside this week was my laptop dying on Tuesday. Buying a (much needed) replacement has taken a massive bite out of my savings. Job hunting is now an urgent priority. I haven't tried applying for JSA yet, but that'll happen next week and I'm dreading it.

At least there's a bit of sun today and the bluetits are looking adorable going in and out of their nest box. Hey ho :)

For the first time in a while I managed to add to my preps this week, mostly medical supplies but also one of those Mylar emergency shelters from poundland for my BOB.

Le Mouse, I applied for JSA 0n Tuesday. The online form is daunting, but even I could manage it! Next week I have my interview. Do not worry, you are entitled to it-indeed they may ask why you have NOT claimed yet!

I wondered if it had gone all online. Last time I signed on (over a decade ago), I wandered in and sorted it out that way. I might try and fill it in tonight. Last time I waited a while before signing on and was asked why I'd waited so long so I won't be surprised if they asked again. I know full well that I'm entitled, but I just hate the way you're treated when you go to sign on. A couple of my relatives have signed on recently and they found it really hard. Apparently our local Job Centre is particularly horrid.
