Been busy lately organising a revamp of the utility area in our place.. added a custom built pantry! Lots of space now to store tins etc and keep food supplies out of the way.. Also got a lot of veg growing in the garden, some fruit trees/plants all looking healthy! and organised sheds to store wood for stove in over the summer so, we have a good supply for when the winter comes at a better price!
Going to be spending the next few weeks getting shelving in the pantry and then restocking on the things that have run down, so plenty of tin shopping for us!

Bought a green house, started murdering a Laylandii and I'm currently pickling a couple of axe heads (already got the Ash blanks to make the handles)

Hurray! Leylandii murder! A fairy comes back to life every time you chop one of those down, you know
As for me ... I have planted seeds, and they have grown (20 pots of chilis
and two lupins from seed I came across, and the first true leaves have just appeared
).
Plus I've been reading the National Risk Register that has its own thread on here, and since 2 of the biggest threats on there are flooding and a much worse volcanic ash fall (and that volcano that went off 2-3 years ago has a big brother that usually erupts just afterwards, doesn't it) I'm going to have a think and a little prep today - lots and lots of clingfilm, to wrap electronics in, is indicated - not sure if that means electrical items too, just off to have another butchers.

Collected a winter mode of transporting my preps yesterday:

Not as shiny as the one in the above picture, mine had done several Antartic expeditions

Battered, smelly, mouldy and faded, but enough about me...... I got it for 1/10th the price of a new one - bonus

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Pseudonym, thats fantastic! I am, as the cool kids say, 'well jel!'
Today I emptied, re evaluated and re packed my BOB (listed in 'Post your EDC!'). I also went through the few car bits that I carry in case and re checked them. Finally got around to going to a petrol station so filled a 25ltr can for storage in the cellar (dont tell the land lord) plus a 5ltr to keep in the boot.
Yesterday we did a GIGANTIC food shop; lidl first, then the supermarket. It came to over €200 but the fridge hasnt looked so good since Christmas.
I dont know why but these past few day's I've had a real boost of motivation to get back into my prepping.

Looking to do a stock take of the food stores this week plus repack the Evacsack - essentially a bag of clothes and cash in case we have to leave the house due to a fire. The kids are sprouting like weeds and I'll bet the clothes we packed at Crimbo are too small now!
Starting to think about a fuel store but want to be very safe with this. We have a little bit of petrol and meths put by but it won't last a week. I'm tempted to buy some bottled 'calor' gas and a barbecue

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
just had the tesco van deliver (amongst my normal weekly shop).....
6 cans beans & sausages £2.10p
8 chkn & m/room tesco pot noodles £1.20p I know but when your cold and hungry they are quick and warm the parts
10 packets tesco instant chkn noodles £1.50p
8 packets tesco savoury rice £2.08p
6 cans tesco meatballs £2.40p
total £9.28p
I also ordered one of those wilko tripod sets, so if its nice this weekend I might try bugging out to the back garden and try to make bread in my dutch oven, could be a laugh
might even photograph it cos if it works it would be nice to post a step by step up here

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Just picked up a load of free boxes to begin packing for my move out to the country. Excellent opportunity to de-clutter and sell off / give away all the stuff I don't use. Moving to a smaller house also helps concentrate on what you need and what is sitting in the spare room unused atm. Plenty of plans for the bigger garden, "if I can't eat it I'm not interested in growing it" is my new motto
I'm in Area 7 !
Re: What Preps are you doing this week
Everything is growing!! Cropping and eating has commenced. Granddaughter scrumping the strawberries, husband scrumping the mange tout and peas. Looking into ways of 'canning' various things for storage/winter use (if there's any left!!).
