What do you carry?

I guess it is each to there own the area you most commonly drive in will affect your kit as will the passengers.... Kids will need different/extra things in the car over an adult same goes for the elderly.

I don't often have passengers but I still have stuff for one I also have stuff for the mutt in the car lol. I like to know that I can take any route to anywhere at any time and as such carry a bit more than most

Waterproof trousers
Waterproof Cagoule
Cheap plastic poncho
Walking Boots
Socks
Pants (in case things get scary)
Umbrella
2 ltr bottles water

And a survival kit bag containing the following:
Comprehensive first aid kit
Hi-vis straps (for wearing)
Wind-up LED lantern
Walkie Talkies
Torch
Wind-up radio
Swan vestas matches
Storm matches
3 x t-lights
1 x long-life candle
Survival space blanket
Sharpie marker pen
Pencil
Bag of pear drops
Tin of anchovy fillets
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Hand sanitizer
Swiss Army knife
Compass
Roll of 1" gaffer tape
Zap-it mosquito bite thingy
2 x FFP3 face masks
Stack of tissues
Paracetamol
Ibuprofine
Loratadine (anti-histamine)

All the above items in the survival kit neatly fit into a cheap, perfectly shaped laptop bag which I bought yesterday for £6.99 from Poundstretcher!

Still need to add:
Snow shovel
Emergency triangle
Tin of baked beans

This is something i need to do, i only carry things that are of any use to the car itself. Tools,bulbs and a fault code reader and reset tool.

A brain, mobile and good set of legs (My standard GOB and EDC), if the car breaks down or SHTF i can walk home in <25 mins thankfully.

Otherwise good car maintenance can prevent nearly all breakdowns.

Carry a good spare, jack, small bottle of oil, water, food pump, Tow rope, national and local road maps for traffic/road closers.

Jacket and umbrella in case it rains, personally anything else is just useless weight, takes up room and affects efficency. Obviously if you work further away you may wish to carry a GOK, its all relative to your personal situation and needs as usual.

My sentiments entirely, I think my car kit excluding the normal breakdown gear only weighs about ten pounds.

The weight reduction includes spare tyres, many new cars today do not come with a spare wheel but a tyre inflation kit and sealant. The one time I had a need for it it was totally unusable as the had broken its seal to the wheel, RAC to the rescue.
