I have seen some cheap mountain house freeze dried cans on e-bay these are a bit large 8 to 9 meals in one tin could i open them & repack them into smaller vacuum pack portions & would this affect the shelf life.

Best not to, their shelf life is pretty much their selling point.

Hi Plucker. Mountain House say that you should eat the contents within 1 week of opening the tin so the 8 to 9 meals should be easily consumed within that period.

Thanks all for the advice i was thinking of repacking it into single pack portions & thinking they might keep like that for 3-5 years.
but it looks like this would not work.
back to the drawing board.
