New to the site: Bristol, Bath, Somerset, South West

Post by Laziji »

Hi there
I am not sure if I'm new to prepping but certainly new to being on a site for prepping.
This one's a new one on me.
I'm prepping for a complete meltdown of the power grid due to an X class solar flare or the collapse of law and order across the country.

Looking to find other preppers in the South West, Bristol, Bath and Somerset. I'm bored with people looking at me like I'm a nut everytime I mention that our comfortable bubble may well burst at any time and we should ready ourelves for it.

Feeling kinda green. I've been abroad in China for eight years and although I was prepping over there the way of doing things is massively different from here.
Firstly, most people live in apartment blocks which are easily defendable. They have curved bars and metal screens across the windows and heavy double locked two layer metal doors. Apartment blocks can be really high and the population is huge. Bugging out to the countryside is not really an option as millions would flee as soon as the water started running out so staying put in your apartment while everyone goes nuts outside is the best option.
Stock pile food, have a vast number of collapsible water containers, petrol stove and window blackouts.....(well thats the basic stuff). Keeping quiet, keeping movements to a minimum and keeping the light from being seen outside ie keeping your presence from being visible is the name of the game in China. Staying well ahead is what its all about and chilling while people go nuts panic buying and quickly degenerating into an animal state.

However, now I'm back in the UK and the whole thing is completely different. We live in houses which have unguarded ground floor windows which are easy for anyone to break into if there was social disorder.
The only thing I can think of is instant bug out and prepping for legging it ASAP in the car if the sh*t hit the fan.
If anyone's got any thoughts on how to successfully stay put in an urban environment in the UK in the midst of disorder then please drop us a line.

It also means that I have to start from scratch all over again :(

I'm excited to be back in the UK as I can dig out all of my old outdoor gear that I stashed years ago including my caving kit.
I lived in the mountains in northern mongolia for a while but that was ages ago

Cant wait to get my hands dirty again

Nice to be here.
Give us a shout anytime. I'd love to make some friends here.
