Re: Had 10 days with no electric omg
Think of it as a learning experience.
Could you expand on what worked, what didn't, how did/ didn't you cope that'll make it easier for you (and us) if it occurs again.

Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Well u can still flush the toilet if u have water to refil system by lifting lid on toilet
So make sure u buy a toilet u can lift lid on
Secondly I run out of matches I'd use more than one instead of re lighting one match
We could keep food cold in freezer with bags of ice for eg milk for kids cereal
We made nets to put I've windows to stop insects as it was so hot with no air con
We cooked outdoors on barbicue I made Piza on barbi and other simple meals
We hired a small generator and wired in electric so we rationed it to one hr a day in morning and at night jus to put kids to sleep and wash as water is pumped round house by electricity in spain
Holy hell

Main thing, you adapted, and dealt with it. Sometimes it takes a crisis to focus your attention. Last year, we lost all lighting on the whole top floor. That was eight days of emergency lighting. We found out what worked and what did not.
Well done.
Well done.

Just goes to show the best way of being prepared is to do it. Put the mains off for a couple of days, don't give in to temptation to turn it back on when things get on top of you. Keep on going and that's when you learn what works and what just sounds good
