Am I missing something here? Can't you simply put a butt on the down pipe with the overflow into the drain or soak away and connect it to other butts via a standard hosepipe (preferably buried so it won't freeze)? Water will always find its own level so they will always fill , I know of someone who has connected butts either side of his shed in just such a manner. If the farthest tubs are slightly higher than the first they won't overflow.

Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Once the SHTF thousands of other people are gonna want the same as you. What do you think your chances are of getting it?.......

I was thinking about this today and I came up with a Toilet cistern, should be able to get suitable brackets at the same place too

The reason for doing it this way rather then just cross-linking your butts is to provide a head of water that'll give you some pressure (same reason why you put cold water tanks in the loft), this means you'll have a higher flow rate

I was thinking along the same lines ForgeCorvus although I quite fancy something a bit smaller and more discreet. I'll keep my eyes open and post on here if I can find anything suitable! ;)

Hi guys!

I agree with one of the previous posts that it was very expensive!! I liked the idea so searched more on the net (not much out there i must admit) and then I came across this one called the Hydrobutt for £34.99 from www.rainwatersavewater.com.

Have any of you guys tried this one out for some more imput, i am very tempted I must say.
