ForgeCorvus, I like it

Izzy, good for you - take it steady, you'll be fine. I hope you're managing to sell some of your decluttering, by the way, on ebay or something, even gumtree - there was a great day when I'd sold enough books to get rid of one of my sets of bookshelves, which I then sold on gumtree for something like £80 - good luck with it!

Thanks for the comments. will be putting clutter stuff to charity shop, not that i don't need the money but am a bit shy when it comes to selling stuff. Tried it before and decided it was too stressful. Not that any of my stuff is actually worth much! :

Sympathies with the shyness! I could never, ever do a car boot sale, no way no how  but online stuff, you sort of put it there and just leave it, they buy if they want. You have to be careful to get enough to cover your postage, by the way, if you do decide to do it - check out the forum on moneysavingexpert.com for lots of tips on that. And you never know what people will buy :)

My own preps, I've got hold of the tin for the 2nd rocket stove, and I'm clearing the path and the garden like crazy for the Big and Bulky delivery this afternoon for soil for preps-growing.

Hi all,

Been harvesting like mad from the allotment - on Friday I got 16lbs of potatoes, 17lbs of marrows (they were supposed to be courgettes but I wasn't down this week!) and 4lbs of beans! I've already lifted LOADS of stuff so I'm really, really chuffed with the way everything's going. I've got 15 jars of marrow chutney made (big ones!) and I'm going to be on the bean pickles tonight.....

Big news - I go back to work tomorrow on a part time basis. I'm so happy because there were times over the last 11 months when I thought I would never be able to work again, so this is amazing for me and the family and a huge relief personally and financially. Wish me luck because I'm nervous !

So let's see how I get back to balancing preps and real life ;)

Very best of luck, Ferricks - hope it goes really well. You're off to a flying start with all that harvesting.

I have continued building our 'evacuation bags', I refrain from the acronym, 'BOB', as I have nowhere to run to. And we sure ain't livin' in the woods-the fantasy location for many internet survivalists. My thread, 'Hotel Bag' sums up what I am doing. Nearly there now. We have been spurred on by a couple nearby who experienced a gas explosion last week, and their house is wrecked. They had the clothes they stood in-nightclothes.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Jansman, thats exactly what I have! The thing that took me the longest was the little booklet full of my financial, insurance, professional, online etc information.

Tonight I've been hacking away at dead bushes, clearing the ground so I can plant - its going to take a while, but I'm really happy I've finally got round to it.

Sorry to disagree with you. I've lifted weights for over thirty years and competed in drug free powerlifting regionally and nationally (back in the day). If you want real functional strength then multiple sets of very low repetitions using simple compound movements with a weight that will be heavy to you IMHO is the way to go. Functional strength is derived from the ligaments and tendons. Check out the old time strongman Arthur Saxon - he looked like a regular guy. Notwithstanding, that 'time' is the real key. Train day after day, week after week, month after month and year after year. Perseverance. That doesn't mean training for hours - 15 minutes of heavy anaerobic training a day is good. Every movement must be slow and controlled - in perfect form. Aerobic fitness can be gained through cycling, rowing or swimming, all complimentary to lifting weights. That's my two pennoth....
