September uk preparedness month

Post by desertman »

Once again September is rapidly approaching,
And if you recall I mentioned last year my
Ambilac uk preparedness month - the idea being
To make the general populace be made aware
Of what preparedness is all about and what they can
Do to prepare....
Here is my section on the preparedness month, I will be
Adding to over the next few weeks

Which events 'are' you prepping for? ..I think I have covered the majority of possible scenarios, I will discuss the economic collapse scenario also soon - no matter what type of event, the development, pathway and outcome is similar in the end...When writing the 'Are you prepared for a Jericho-type event?' (the old US TV series) I offered a simple 'formula'....
Major event > a break down of communications > confusion > lack of supplies (fresh water, food and basic commodities) > power utility outages (gas and electric) > civil unrest >civil disorder > breakdown in law and order > loss of trust in local authority > crime = utter confusion leading to a survival “fight or flee” situation.

This would be a “standard” formula and one naturally the authorities base their responses to when such an event occurs, as the adage says: ‘forewarned is forearmed'

We are now well into 'UK Preparedness month' where I try to promote the idea of preparedness and ability to cope under various 'emergency' situations - this can be anything from a local short-term power outage and flood to a major national emergency event - the idea is to share and promote tips and ideas to people who are not aware of what preparedness is all about or who are keen to provide a safe environment for their family when the SHTF etc

As a reminder, one of the most popular questions I have received over the 12 years that my site has run is.....'Do I stay at home or evacuate in an emergency?'
A very complex scenario and one that requires careful thought, depending upon your circumstances... I wrote an article on this 2 years ago...needs updating in one or two areas, but the gist is there...
