Just found this product called the HydroButt from http://www.rainwatersavewater.com . I have been wanting to move my water butts away from the house for a long time now and I think this could be the solution. You can also add as many water butts as you like which is pretty cool

Have any of you guys tried this yet? Plz let me know your thoughts as I'm looking to buy in next few days.

I've not done it myself but know of people who have connected butts together in just that way with hose pipes. The principal is that of a water level (similiar to a spirit level ) as will work as long as one butt isn't half way up a hill. There are a couple of decisions such as whether to connect the butts at the top or at the bottom. At the bottom and they will all fill at the same time, at the top and the first one will fill first. Now I think about it my father had a few butts fitted in the top connected way and that way would be best if you do live on the side of that hill. One other consideration is to insulate or bury the hose to prevent it freezing in winter which could cause it to split and you'll lose all your water.

I was about to purchase a Rainwater Hub but I'm leaning more towards the Hydrobutt. I'm planning on using it as a source for drinking water off-grid and it appears to fit the bill better for me because I can bury the hose so no mice/rats/badgers can get at it.

We'll have to compare notes....

Sorry to here that Briggs. My hydrobutt arrived last week and lucky enough we have had loads of rain (yey). I have connected 4 water butts and every single one is full. I am going to get a few more as i have a fair bit of space and it is easy to do so no probs there. If you do change your mind, would defo recommend

On your recommendation I'm going to buy the Hydrobutt and not the Ranwater Hub. If anyone else is thinking about one, the price is now reduced to £25.

Have you got it up and running, let me know how you get on briggs. I dont know how the weather has been by you but it has rained non stop here
