Hi miss panda, it may also be worth carrying a small knife with you on your person if the brown stuff ever hits blades, any knife with a 3inch or under sized blade is legal to carry around. It may also be worth investing in some collapsable 5 gallon water bottles so you can keep a supply of clean water should you ever need it. these collapsable bottles will even fit in your bug out bag, also it may be worth upgrading your bag even to a small burgen. Feminine hygeine products also make for great kindling, so it works well with with a Fire Starter Ferrocerium Rod and Metal Striker, which you can pick up on amazon for less than 10 quid.

also in terms of bags it may also be worth investing in one thats not quiet as bright so you can blend in with the scenery should you ever need to. Also invest in a wire saw, they are very small, but ideal if you ever need to build a shelter. I also keep a couple of boxes of 9 and 6 inch nails as well as a few 1 inch nails too, again for shelter if needed or for making booby traps. I also keep camouflage waterproof trousers and jacket and camo face paint too again just in case i ever need to disappear in the wilds. also get some fishing wire and some lures too, just incase you ever need to catch your dinner, just dont forget the weights that sink the line and the lure as a floating fishing line is almost useless, if you get some slightly heavier duty fishing line it can also be used as snares for catching small wildlife. i have got a small but powerfull catapult too which can be used for catching small wildlife even ducks on dry land, just practice a lot with it before, you will be surprised how quick you can lose that skill without regular practice. One final thing maybe a small axe ideal for shelters but great for intimidation if you ever get attacked

I found a brass eyeliner pencil sharpener on eBay for a fiver. It has two different size holes which is handy, but it also means if one blade snaps, you've got a back up. It's worth trying out because the sharpened sticks are very handy too.
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.

Thanks. Yeah I'm planning on purchasing some water purification tablets and other systems. My prepping will mainly consist of bugging out for now. In the future I will invest on bugging in items too.
Why focusing on bugging out?

If you are in an urban environment then a black backpack would be more camouflaged. If you go for DPM (army camouflage) then you'll stand out like a sore thumb.

i think it depends on where you are looking to bug out, i personally am not planning on bugging out unless really crucial and i have no other choice, but im lucky in the fact i live near a small country park 10 mins to my south and countryside and farms 10 mins to my north, so camo is ideal for that, but i will also have a black BOB soon to for urban needs, ideal for if or when the power grid fails. But my BOB is full of items that will be useful even if i bug in. things like the fishing line and catapult if i have to go foraging in the night for food. and the wire saw so i can go out at night and fell trees should i need to keep my family warm and to cook too. Im thinking of investing in a small wood burning stove too. and when we buy our own house it has to have an open fireplace. so fuel is obtainable and can be used for cooking if needed.

I've got images of a Female Peter Sutcliff on the rampage having seen the claw hammer

loose the Hammer for a Axe at some point a axe can be used as a hammer with the blunt end ;)

Shelter... Get something to help make a shelter a small cheap Tarpaulin from a builders merchant and some parra cord or a bothy / small tent.....

the above can be built into a DIY / natural shelter to add a water proof layer

Food.. stick the Spam on the kitchen shelf High calorie should be the short term need lots of Lovely Chocolate, easy to heat foods, tinned soup/ stew or a Ration pack £10 ish eg

http://evaq8.co.uk/Ration-X-Self-Heatin ... enu-A.html

and something to cook them on.. the above come with ration heaters but a Hexi stove or small camping stove might be an idea.. as you can boil....... :

Water...... you have the bottle now how to get what ever water you find clean/ safe to drink ....... minimum... in my eyes will be Water purification tablets (or boil it) and a "millbank" http://www.kitmonster.co.uk/product_inf ... ts_id/1572

with the stove above comes FIRE.... matches are ok till they get damp...... Flint and striker work soaked... a few tampons/ towels/ char cloth = easy fire... turbo flame lighter / basic bic lighter....

something to sleep in a wool blanket is a good starter... warm even if wet if a bit itchy ;)
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine
