Aha, I've been making wines for a while now - we never have to buy any and people are usually quite taken by the idea that I made it myself.
I also make "flavoured vodka" but I use 500g of fruit (usually strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb or blackberries) to 500g of sugar and 1 litre of the cheapest vodka I can find (Aldi this year.)
The end result is almost a liqueur. Lovely!

Just started 20 litres of mead, added lemon zest and raisins. It's bubbling away nicely!

got some left overs from last year still.. Bramble wine. Sloe Gin . a bitter and a lager....
good thing is if the SHTF i'd panic drink the beer's clean the kegs fill with tap water and pressurise with CO2... should keep fresh to drink for a while

that's if you are sober enough to preserve water.....
surely it might be better to "pay" someone to do some tasks for you using the alcohol? or trade it for food?
