I see a lot of videos of survival tins ,
but I do wonder if it's legal to carry a razor blade in the tin everyday .
Are there any laws on it ?
survival tins , ?
Re: survival tins , ?
a razor blade is under 3 inch, you can legally carry a knife with a blade of 3 inch and over that with legal need! its all covered in uk knife laws https://www.gov.uk/find-out-if-i-can-bu ... ry-a-knife

It's all relative. If you are just carrying a knife or a blade then any police officer is going to question why and for what purpose. If your blade is in a survival tin then its purpose is pretty clear, just don't take your survival tin where it's not relevant, ie to a football match.
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.

Tigs, would be classed as a fixed blade so wouldn't be exempt. However as Briggs says, if its in a tin its unlikely to be a problem.
Re: survival tins , ?
these days ive gone away from using a survival tin, i found that it was bulky and i would forget to take it with me, no point in it being in my packpack or jacket as i could get seperated from it.
so now i use a survival belt, it is always in my walking trousers it contains:
2xsnares, fishing line/hooks/weights, fire steel/striker, water purification tabs, cordage, buton compass, cash.
still has loads of room left.
it is a belt with a zip on the inside for cash. (no pouches)
in my jaket i carry a water bag, a survival bag and fire kit

As you have no tin now- what do you boil the water in?
Re: survival tins , ?
Yes missing out on the worlds smallest cup of tea could be a problem
I can pasturize water or use puri tabs, behond that i have to start looking around for trash ie a coke can.
I could add some tin foil, will try boiling water in some today.
will add a small blade of some type as well, still a work in progress...

Well you can boil water in tinfoil, there are a couple of drawbacks though.prepperG wrote:Yes missing out on the worlds smallest cup of tea could be a problem

Its nearly impossible to handle full of water, let alone when its full of boiling water
Keeping your foil leak free is very hard, foldlines tend to crack and go at the corners and then theres the problem of it rubbing on everything else and wearing through.
A pop-up cup is a new way to me of solving the problem.
The others I've heard of are:
A larger kit based around a small baking tin (or Lofty's Messtin & pouch system).
A Foil Tray (still suffers from folding problems but not as badly)
A non-fire safe vessle and use 'cooking stones'

that belt sounds just the thing I've been looking for may I ask where you acquired it, I used to have an old army SERE belt which had hidden compartments but was too big to wear with anything other than issue trousers. Any chance of a few pics of the belt and what you can fit in it.prepperG wrote:these days ive gone away from using a survival tin, i found that it was bulky and i would forget to take it with me, no point in it being in my packpack or jacket as i could get seperated from it.
