Let there be light (Te$co purchases) Pic heavy again...

Post by Yorkshire Andy »

Well they have the buying power and the shelf space......

anyhow without getting to MMC over their buying power they seem to be the only place locally that stocks a range of torches and lanterns.....

got plenty of torches but no area lights

so say hello to... 2 i grabbed in tesco...

One (the black one is tesco's own "LED LANTERN" sporting a cary handle and hook hi low and red SOS strobe ((why on earth does every light now come with a poxy useless red flashing LED))

anyhow.... (all prices are in ISH) ;)

£11 gets you a wind up light with high and low (all pics taken in Hi) with the option of 3x aaa 1.5v batteries to save the winding..

just on wind up power =

The Summit 1w £10 uses 4x aa

((worth noting the first one went back as the switch disintegrated))

light spread side by side

Oh and for £2 each....

with a whistle in the end and a LED torch in the base..

ideal for signalling

got a couple of LED battery string lights for that

got a Coleman lantern (petrol/ white gas) but ultimately these are safer to use especially in a bedroom / if kids are about

I bought the lantern and torches yesterday - very impressed.

There is a slight problem with the lantern, as (according to the instructions) the bulbs cannot be replaced i.e.: the unit is sealed. I will see how easy it is to replace the bulb when it fails, but that won't be for a couple of years, I expect. I mention this, as some of you may prefer to purchase a more expensive model, that have fully interchangeable parts.

With one of the torches, I have reversed the bulbs, and it is now displays a bright red light - useful for preserving night-vision, or so I am told!
