Prepped in Derbyshire

Post by Riosingh »

To be honest, I don't feel that I'm new to prepping.
I have lived for a fair few years in Tanzania, and you need back ups of most things over there.
Also coming from a farming Punjabi heritage, bulk buying of things is cultural. Because historically crops were seasonal and had to be stored for a whole year. And it makes economic sence to buy flour and rice and potatoes in bulk, because that is the cheapest way of buying them. And we have cupboardsfull of large Kilner jars with lentils, dried beans and chickpeas.
I'm sure it was the same in Britain before the industrial revolution.

Also since I was a teenager my dad (mechanic) tought me how to service and repair my own car, my father has always been a lover of Toyata landcruisers becase of their robustness.

The biggest drivers for moving away from this is the women in my family, they view status and progress as primary concerns.

I am I keen gardener, and I would rather have a patch of potatoes, than a flower patch, or a lawn.
I have a polytunnel, and this year has seen a really bountiful harvest.
