hmm maybe we did go a bit off topic. To try and get things back on topic i i do generally keep and save all coins under 50 pence i am also thinking about collecting £5 notes again, at one point every time i had 2 £5 notes i would leave one in my wallet for spending and put the other away for a rainy day. over the space of 2 years i collected just over £400, in terms of coins i dread to think how much ive got in 20's 10's and 5's ive got 2 shoe boxes absolutely full of them. i havent collected them for prepping, but im now thinking maybe i should keep them for that purpose.

Both me and the wife save our silver coins in a big jar started doing it for our wedding and just kept doing it every few months we swap coins for notes and stash for a rainy day. Coppers been saving them for years for a Ferrari one day lol. £2 coins are saved for a landie or unexpected car bills.

This has best of my prepping for years due to being skint as a student then self employed now have a propped job it won't be needed as much but still useful - washing machine breaks grab the £2 coin jar and get a new one don't worry just move on with life. If the shtf and cash mc go down first still able to last min stock pile
Not planning for the end of the world just to survive till normality resumes, while sticking to the scout moto be prepared!

Still considering do I want to survive the end of the world or deck chair on the front lawn with a cold beer?

I've always been fairly money savvy (or tight as family members call me) but I do need to keep more cash in the house should ATM's go down.
I have a buddy who works for a security firm so I'll look at getting a small safe (key operated rather than electronic) to keep some cash.

The safe will be my next to do item.

If the safe is put in a visible location, then you could have an issue as thats what criminals will go for. if you get two safes, one in a visible location and easy to break into and you have some fake silver or fake gold init, then the criminal will take that thinking that they have got the mother load when in fact you can have the real wealth in a more hidden safe

that is a good idea, I am having an extension built soon with a new study being added, I had been thinking of having a concealed safe so that could work well with an obvious one like you mentioned.

External, Concealed well enough and it needn't be even a save just a cupboard is secure if undetectable.

Off topic about storage, but deffo on topic about money: you know that exercise we did a while back, "what would you do if you knew ts was about to htf in 2 hours? I was just doing a bit of money admin this morning, and realised that my ATM withdrawal limit had gone up to £300. A big advantage over £200, which it was I thought it was. Plus a little tiny supermarket has opened at the end of my road, with an ATM there - as we saw with Cyprus, one of the first things that happens nowadays in any sort of crisis is that electronic money is turned down. So these two things together are really good news for my preps.
