Evacuation Bag not Bug out bag.

Post by Hamradioop »

Just a thought I know many people here talk about their BOB or GOOD Bag, but in this country surely it is an evacuation bag for things Like Flooding, Fire, Gas Leaks etc. The concept of bugging out on this crowed island to me looks to be totally untenable. Being evecuated to a local rest center is probably more realistic.

I'd agree Hamradioop
An evacuation bag for Great Britain or an EBGB I get them a lot ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

thats why "my bag" is the way its laid out... if the shtf in the way i would be taken to the local leisure center i would grab the full bag viewtopic.php?f=42&t=8342 and my nice UK forces camp bed and live like a king........... the fact others would probably see the axe on top as i unpack if i didnt get chance to remove it should make them leave me and my stuff alone
If your roughing it, Your doing it wrong ;)

Lack of planning on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine

Understand u cant Bugg out like USA in to complete remoteness but if i'm honest i live in a place that has high risk of crime as it is so if the SHTF i don't think my house would be secure enough no matter what i did to is so Bugging out is a very realistic option to me even if its just to a family or friends house where i can sleep a bit easier. If the scenario of SHTF was extreme then after several months i would consider a country side location as non survivalists by this point will close in on towns and citys for supplies ect.

I would say that they are the same in that most peoples idea of a bug out bag is way to big and would slow them down or not be taken with them as to big.
I have gone down the ultra light back packing route, my bag is just 28ltr and has enough kit to camp out for 48hr
ask yourself can i run and climb with this and would i be allowed to take it with me when im told to get onto the back of an army truck :(
a go bag is called a go bag as it goes everyware with you.

I like the idea, i reckon i could jog just about with my BoB its not massive, but also i have 2 sets of webbing filled with absolute essential's one for me and one for mrs, (she wanted pink one but talked her round to camo! )
would recomend a basic 95 pattern web rig to anyone, the modern assault vests are to restricting!

My bag has always been an emergency bag - a grab bag really as it has stuff in it that I can use for all things - hiking and walking, taking with me on holidays and if I have to leave the house quickly. Essential first aid, torches and spare batteries, change of clothes, pac mac and gloves, pencil and paper, compass and local maps, fire starting stuff, emergency food rations in the form of glucose sweets, mints, fruit musli bars and dried fruit bags and a bottle of unopened water. Its not a huge bag about 20ltr I think.
