haha i would try that, but my missus knows exactly where the the switches are based, due to the fact our electrics are suspect at best (landlord is a toss pot and wont spend money re-wiring) i am quiet happy to continue prepping without her knowing, if shit goes awry at any point and they come in handy, that will be the point when i say, i told you so!!!!!! i will take great pleasure in it too. im lucky to have a garage which she will not step in where i can hide things too.

unless she is switched on about home electrics get home before her next week once the clocks change and flick the main house electrical isolator switch .. then go out again
come home an hour late and see how she is "coping".. Its funny how many people fail the ability to survive a few hours without electric without going nuts its sadly funny I bet 50% of the uk houses do not have a torch .. and even fewer will have working batteries in it... (if they can find it in the dark)

Re: What Preps are you doing this week
I have 3 months ahead of me of recovering from a second episode of major surgery in nine months. I will not be able to prepare the garden do any heavy lifting etc so I have set myself to read as many of the threads on the forum as possible. In the main groups there are 1253 threads which is a lot of reading! I have a folder with paper in to take notes and plans for future activities when I am more mobile. Already have started the local library getting books for me to read.

I second that. At least you are able to use your time constructively.pseudonym wrote:modernwisewoman wrote:I have 3 months ahead of me of recovering from a second episode of major surgery in nine months. As for my own preps, this week I made a considerable one. My Daughter has got herself a newer, much newer car. Grandad has given up driving(he is not safe TBH, and he knows it), and he threw the keys to her and said,"it's yours", lovely bloke. Anyhow, Daughter told me to have her motor(I did pay for it in the first place), and use it. She reckons I need a vehicle for Winter, instead of riding my bike, as it would seem 'I am getting older'!!!
At the same time, I am rationalising the pantries, moving stuff on to family and the local food bank. And we have an extensive stash. However , life has changed as one Daughter has moved out, one is here only three days a week, and at lunchtimes my boss feeds us all. All this has changed our storage dynamics. Holding a bit less stock will make it easier to manage the rotation. I always hold a good stock of carbohydrates, herbs and spices etc. The polytunnels are very productive, and so are me goats ,fowls and rabbits. Goat milk IS an acquired taste, but it saves cash and makes crackin' yoghurt and cheese.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.
