Major work on the jeep starts tomorrow morning. . Replacement rear axle swap with lift kit and new long reach shocks going in with new bushes all round along with some prep work for fitting a winch if time allows.

Toothbrushes & toothpaste, powdered milk, packet noodles, jelly beans, hot chocolate sachets, dextrosol tablets... Topping up the MRE's for our journey to Devon during the predicted storm on Monday!

Charging batteries and testing the camping stove, in preparation for the 'storm of the century', or whatever the tabloids have decided to call it.

Going on previous experience, I expect power-cuts here.

EDIT: And charge up the walkie talkies.

got myself 3 packs of 14 AA batteries from 99p stores. Ok they are "heavy duty" batteries and therefore wont last all that long, but in my LED lamps they may be ok for a while, especially as each of the lamps only takes 3 AA batteries.

If we do lose power in the storm, I think i will be ok.

changed the batteries in my LED torches as there is no point in scrambling for the batteries in the dark when the lights go out.

I have one of these with a leak - assuming you have a tilley lamp, any idea how hard it is to perform a service?
Sorry its not a tilley lamp so cannot help you, try You Tube you find all sorts on there or you might try EHow

Seeing as everything with 4 legs or wings has decided to hunker down in the wind I will be eating my preps this weekend...
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.
