Hello

Post by JimmyBoo274 »

Hi All

Firstly I need to being a bit behind schedule here...I've had my ear to the ground for a while on all of the potential reasons and likely events that would necessitate prepping but due to family friends etc and "not wanting to appear to be a nut" I've only dabbled.

*edited to remove references to 'Nibaru'

Natuarally I'm keen to meet up and discuss with like minded individuals ASAP

Hi Jimmy, welcome to UK Preppers. I have approved your introduction but referenes to 'Nibaru' have been removed. This forum is not about conspiracies, but is focused on practical prepping for plausible, realistic situations.

Hello and Welcome to the forum.

Although I did read recently in the paper that there was potentially a planet killer that would come close to the Earth in 2032 (I think), there was only a 1 in 60,000 chance of a collision. Plus, I didn't check where the paper sourced its info so don't know the credibility of it. All I can say is that be careful not to buy into conspiracy theories about Doomsday Scenarios. Though it is true that life changing objects may come near to the Earth in the future, this 'Nibiri cataclysm' is pseudoscience.

Although it is everyone's individual freedom to choose what the prep for I recommend prepping for things like power cuts, job loss, increased cost of food, natural disasters, Peak Oil and civil unrest.

If you have any concerns or questions we will all be happy to help.

Hi Guys - thanks for the response

sorry if I was being controversial straight off the bat but I genuinely wasn't intending to be...I have real and genuine concerns here - unlike most conspiracies Comet "Nison" clearly exists and with just a little bit of digging it's pretty clear what is and more importantly what it isn't. Don't read the papers on this. There's loads of youtube clips on this but one in particular is extremely illuminating.

I suppose my concern is that in my mind, prepping needs to be immediate as I strongly anticipate a need for action in the next few weeks. Should the unthinkable happen I'd really like to be aware of a viable network/communication channel for future if we're fortunate enough to see it through

best regards

I would like to know why you feel need for action in the next few weeks?

I have been on this forum (and another) for probably 4 years (god, I can't believe its been that long!) and it's only been in the last two that I have met with other preppers. It takes time to build relationships and trust, through participating on the forum and basically proving you are not a nutter. Then people are more likely to want to meet as they've got to know you.
I'm sure this will be the same with the viable network/communication channel that you seek.

Some of our members are ham radio operators, having passed their exam to be able to do that. Perhaps you need to look at that option.

I read this post about the comet at the same time as the satellite TV signal scrambled then went off. I had an 'oh b*gger' moment as thoughts dashed across my mind of space rocks destroying the Astra 1 Sky satellite as they hurtle towards earth. Fortunately Strictly came back on so I guess it missed.

All joking aside, it's great to start being more prepared but in my opinion it's best to take your time and browse this forum for ideas and planning because it's a gold mine of tips and information. There's even some weirdo who advocates a pencil sharpener as part of your every day carry....
I recently experienced Plymouth City centre so that's why I prep.
