As I have batteries, water and food, today I went to the allotment and dug the last of the spuds up, tried to weight down plastic coche over my lettuce (tho that was probably a pointless thing to do!) I also made sure my brother has one of our camping lanterns and charged all our devices incase of power outs. I can hear the wind doing an erie howl from time to time so I guess it is picking up after all down here. I also checked my rucksack incase we did have to evacuate due to falling trees, and made sure I knew where I had put every day bag so I wouldn't have find it in an emergency.

Sitting watching the news having a good chuckle at how much chaos a wee bit of wind can do . We get stronger winds in summer in Scotland . Man up England .

I knew someone would say that about Scotland Trees with their leaves still on, so branches can get ripped off more easily, very dense infrastructure and population so more people around to be hit on the head with more things, at least a million people in the area on trains through woods and open countryside, its just the way it is.

As it turns out, the prep that was most handy was having my travel kettle and the makings of a cup of tea in my bedroom - when the wind woke me at 4.30, I could just snuggle in, instead of having to trek downstairs

*grins* yeah true but as they say, expect the worst andhope for the best! I think they main issues down here is that we are so ridiculously over populated and packed close together that if a tree falls the chances are it will damage something. Us southern softies aren't used to high winds. Fortunately it wasn't quite mad as it could have been. Power flickered on and off but where we are we didn't loose it so that makes a change. While the media do have a tendency to panic everyone, at least people were aware and so could be prepared incase it was a terrible one. Apart from a few trees and general debris, all is well in the pocket of England I live in - thankfully.

BBC news are saying one confirmed fatality and one missing in the sea assumed dead and over 100,000. homes without power

Had a few powercuts on Sunday in Lincolnshire and a fair amount of rain and wind, nothing too bad.
I do need at some point to do a new soak away for my drive. and front guttering. So many jobs so little time and money to do them.

Apart from heavy rain and wind between 04.00 - 05.00, little to report from the north of Somerset. Maximum of 40 mph winds at 04.38 - we have had far worse storms here, in the South-West, over recent years, that weren't reported on the local news! Hopefully, everyone else got off, as lightly.

I am, nevertheless, amazed that the electricity is still working - usually all that it takes for it to fail, is a sudden downpour on the local sub-station.

Oh well, at least the thermos of coffee was welcome, before starting work.

I was away until late last night
Got home and found that herself (a non-prepper) had got out some candles,filled some water bottles and found her camping stove and gas* "Just incase". Perhaps its rubbing off on her
