I won't elaborate on what I do for a living, except to say I deal with motor incidents. I've had two incidents in the past fortnight where people could not get out of vehicles due to seat belt releases being restricted post-incident and doors being jammed. Please make sure you and your loved ones have a tool close to hand to break glass and cut belts. Screwfix sell an all in one hammer and cutter for £3 and there's a multitude of key ring sized cutters out there.
I know I sound like your mother, but it makes sense.
Briggs.

Re: Essential Car Kit
I have a lease car (through OH work) at the moment and it can equipped with a seat belt/window hammer tool, as well as safety triangle, reflective waistcoat, small camera, notebook and tape measure for recording details of any accidents.
I replicated the contents and put it into OHs car too.
