Ok here is the problem namely one sister
her commute takes her about 10 miles out of town into the country side to work plus her hectic social life.....
so far i have hidden / placed jump leads (which she actually managed to use last winter by following the instructions on the bag they are in ) First aid kit, spare bulb kit, tow rope, warning Triangle, high vis vest and Tow rope....... all these live in the spare wheel well and in an under seat cubby...
Got my car kit sorted i dont care that the boot is nearly full but her car is one of the Minute super minis....... she complained last winter about the snow socks and a pull apart snow shovel been unceremoniously dumped in here boot
Anyways she is soon to discover big over reacting /protecting brother is going to drop a standard everyday backpack in the boot...
Ideally in this bag i plan to put in the ifferrnal snow socks and shovel....
but also plan on about 500ml of water either bottles or "survival water pouches" a basic 1200 kcal ration kit with us ration heater..
http://evaq8.co.uk/Ration-X-Self-Heatin ... enu-A.html
(got that already) not the cheapest but nice and compact
really cant see her entertaining a sleeping bag
So list time...
Ration pack,
Shovel,
Snow socks,
water,
Basic Torch,
Fleece blanket,
survival bag,
hat and gloves...
Anyone think of any other simple stuff i can cram in there to improve it..... (there is a mylar blanket in the first aid kit)
Cheers

Re: Making a Winter car kit.....
Someone mentioned cheap bath mats in another thread (credit to you take it you deserve it ) for getting out of mud/snow and I reckon they'll last better than the purpose made traction tracks I saw at a certain supermarket today for £9.99
I know that fire is dangerous and cars are the worst, but a mess tin and a few tea lights can give a little light and warmth if stuck overnight, yes you need ventilation, but you do in a car anyway, and chocolate, calories and comfort for her in a compact form

I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

The snow socks are great stretch them on drive a bit further pop the last few inches on and its like driving on one continuous carpet mat
