Herbs for BO cooking

Post by Oldarborman »

Just thought I would mention this as I do a lot of cooking, survival food can be very nutritious but also very bland so in my BO scenario I have added herbs for perking up the taste of my cooking, salt is a big thing also pepper but the main herbs I would take (if they were not in season ) dried of course sage, rosemary, thyme, marjoram, garlic, I could take many more as they pack very well flat and tight in sealed bags, there is nothing more comforting than good tasting food cooked alfresco, a happy stomach leads to a happy state of mind it's essential for survival.

I have curry powder and hot sauce in mine. They cover a multitude of mistakes.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.

Powdered mustard. It's a great help in times of no taste - and in times of far too much taste as well!

You've got the basics covered. Maybe some black pepper too, and some salt? I'd also add turmeric to that, as it not only tastes good but has some medicinal uses.

Vanilla sugar is great along with powdered milk and rice for a super tasty BO pudding

Great point, and something that is easy to overlook. Curry powder or turmeric would be a favourite for me, as would garlic powder. Oregano or italian seasoning is pretty versatile too. Though carrying a little baggie of herbs might raise some eyebrows in more everyday situations ;)
