Re: Asda Bulk Buying
I've noticed over past few weeks atleast at my local Asda's they have begun selling wholesale sized tins and tubs of food that would traditionally be aimed at catering suppliers.
1kg Heinz Beans - £1.80..
1kg Pear Slices - £2.00..
1kg Pickled Onions - £1.98
1kg Red Cabbage - £2.00
etc etc..
It's been a while since I was at a cash and carry but by the time you have included VAT etc on their prices and added fuel etc on the extra trip I think you will be cheaper at Asda...
As for the shelf lives I reckon you will be fine for a good year or two on each..

Re: Asda Bulk Buying
A good way to source bulk items is by approaching local corner shop owners and asking them if they get a discount on bulk items - they are always willing to add to their orders for a discount - publicans get amazing discounts on bottled water too, 24 case plastic bottles at around £3+vat, my local gets glass ones for free with every order, they have offered to ask for plastic and sell them to me at £2.Oldarborman wrote:We also have found that the wholesaler's is not always the cheapest way to go, asda, lidl and aldi can be cheaper with certain items
Its always worth the ask.
