Forget storing it, nothing is going to be that bad as to need stock-piling clothing, if it is that bad then there will be houses and storage warehouses as well as shops full of it.
But getting good quality stuff NOW is a better idea, keep to neutral colouring and try not to be militaristic, good quality outdoor gear such as Rab, Nanok, North face, Berghaus and maybe some 5:11 trousers to go with it.

Re: storing clothes
Ah I dont know. Ive found some really good lambswool jumpers in charity shops. Hardly worn at all. One I picked up online needed a bit of darning but is fine now. Another thing Im hanging onto is woollen tights. I discovered that I could get into the largest kids size and get 3 for £5. they last ages are far warmer than opaques and nylons and if (somehow!) you snag them.... out with the darning needle.

I have to say when shopping for the kids clothes I have been eyeing larger 'kids' stuff and visually and sometimes actually ('oh the eldest and I are the same size!'
) if your not too tall and around a 8/10 you can save a bundle on clothes, Im not even petite. Certain companies seem to make kids clothes more hard wearing with other useful things like 'reacts with bodyheat for extra warmth' - not like some of the 'fashion' tat aimed at women and sadly now men. If Im buying stuff to keep I want decent things and Id prefer not to pay through the nose, why Im a bit of a charity shop junkie. Whilst I appreciate not everyone is going to fit childrens wear dont always think the adults stuff is an awful price. Look at the childrens rail.....
