I think i might use the impending microns of snow were apparently getting to stock up on bits, i think that will be looked upon in a good light. I think shes worried im going to make a foil hat (although that would stop an emp emptying my brain) I think il keep it to a level thats understandable to her and others, otherwise il be put in the mad camp. It will be a lot more difficult to win them round then
Re: Converting Family
There was a program on a while ago called "Blackout" or something. Where the electricity went out for a week in the UK, I think that helped convince my Mrs it's a good idea. That and the show "Revolution".
Of course the chances of anything long term happening are remote, but as the progamme made clear, even if we lost power for one week (which isn't that far fetched) there would be anarchy.
She slowly came round to my way of thinking to the point she's now started bringing things home from the Supermarket to put in our stash. Things like long life milk (she does love her tea) and what not!

Loved the show blackout, I really hope it made others in the UK more aware of Prepping.. If you get a chance the U.S version is worth a watch as well its called American Blackout.
Not seen Revolution yet I must have a watch of the first series as it does sound like a really good show.

Re: Converting Family
I try to convert the family but they just think I am bat poop insane...
They always say how they can imagine me standing on a stool in the middle of the town centre with a bible and a piece of cardboard around my neck chanting the end is nigh...
I don't mind that none of the family understand or get prepping because I don't understand The X factor or the only way is Essex, so each to their own I guess...
To me prepping is a hobby a lifestyle and a way of life...
Am I obsessed ? A little
Should I be? Probably not
Do I enjoy Prepping ? YES!
Do I cause anyone any harm by prepping ? NO!
God forbid if anything ever did happen I am no Bear Grylls or Gun waving Nat geo doomsday prepper, But If something did happen I would like to think that I would have a better quality of survival than most.
Yes I am a prepper and despite the stigma around it and the sarcastic comments or the inevitable smart bums we meet who say
'Well I know where to come if something happens then' I will always prep not because I have to, Not because I need to, But because I want to.
as the dizzee rascal song goes...
Some people think I'm bonkers
But I just think I'm free
Man, I'm just livin' my life
There's nothin' crazy about me
