It may sound odd, but find a falconer/austringer. My friend hunts with Raptors, and he does a lot of leatherwork to make jesses and hoods. He has made knife sheaths for me. Alternatively find a tailor. Very often they have seamstresses who have worked with all things needle and thread. Or a cobbler, if you still have such a thing near you.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Robert Frost.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.

Ben and Lois Orford.

We have had some great stuff off them and saw them in action at The Wilderness Show. I would certainly recommend them.

No, it's a skill not commonly found. I thought I might have a go myself as a project for the dark winter months but leather is too expensive to buy. Then on a trip to the charity shop I found a western suede shirt made from 100% goat skin , in 1st class condition for £3!!!. The sections of suede are not as big as I would have liked but hopfully I'll at least get to try my hand at making something for next to nothing. Might be worth keeping your eyes open or asking the staff to put aside anything suitable?

I made a knife sheath from leather sheets we bought on e bay, very thick stuff about 3MM I made a belt quiver for those pistol crossbow bolts also from a sheet of it.
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
