Novice prepper looking for advice to start off on a budget

I live in Bristol north
married
after reading the papers / internet forums etc etc I feel that prepping isn't so daft after all and is probably the best insurance I can get

Strangely enough, a great place to start is tesco value. The tinned stuff, the dry goods.
