1) Are you intending to build on or under the ground?
2) If at all possible I would have an emergency exit, even a window to climb out of - just in case of fire etc
3) I would strongly consider a large volume water store (possibly collect rainwater & store underground) in one of those 1000 litre IBC containers

Other than that looks good. Keep saving those pennies!

Above ground.. would make it look like an abandoned sub station..... (telegraph pole, some wire, danger of death sign)
Would have a manual pump for water (thats the odd thing by the toilet haha  )
http://www.tidyco.co.uk/store/water_pum ... _pumps.asp
but also something like and IBC as you say...

There would be an escape hatch probably a ladder to the roof from the storage area..

TY for the input :D

That looks fab, from experience, i would say when setting a fund up for this always have a contingency, i have learnt the hard way, some things ended up costing more then I had calculated.

Also, youtube has many "how to" videos, so save money on getting someone else to do it for you and also to not bringing people to your location, so when "SHTF" you wont have ques of people wanting to come in!!

Thanks

Not to close to the river/stream as they are prone to flooding. If you do buy a property with a river/stream, have a look at micro turbines for electricity generation and ram pumps for pumping water through your water system.

I have been looking into micro turbines.. will be a great resource although I'm not techy enough to build something from scratch.. looking more at Solar Kits, but if something comes along that's in kit form for 12v I'm in! viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8914&p=96271#p96271

Thanks very much for the offer.. it's very much appreciated - I'm really not at the stage yet to buy land and start building maybe in 6/7 months.
