ASTHMA Salt THerapy

Post by damaralenoire »

From reading some stuff on another thread about prepping for serious medical conditions, I was thinking about how other conditions can be controlled. I have asthma and have always been reluctant to take the ventolin medication due to past reports of it actually having long term affects on asthmatics, and my own GP bragged about the effects that Salt Therapy can have for people with respiratory problems.

In a few health shops and the odd corner shop i have seen these clay based pipes for sale with a little channel to put salt and you basically breathe through the pipe taking in the salt "vapour" kinda like a bong. On a camping trip once a friend of mine made himself a bong using an old pop bottle but had rock salt poured into the base of it, He swears blind its the best treatment for his asthma

Anyone else tried this?

I've considered giving it a try. I've just never got round to buying one. Holland and Barrett do one for £14.99: http://www.hollandandbarrett.com/pages/ ... p?pid=3704

I visited Poland last year and went to the Wieliczka salt mine just outside Krakow. Part of the complex is an underground health resort where people can have respiratory conditions treated by the salt air. Also my asthma is always better when I visit the seaside and breathe in the sea air.

Do you have another inhaler to help control your asthma? If the dosage of that one is correct for you then you should be able to avoid ventolin. However, if you're poorly with cold / flu or if your asthma gets bad, please don't avoid ventolin for the sake of it if it will make you feel better!

I am prescribed ventolin and Seretide, i do take my seretide as prescribed but i really dont like the effect ventolin has on me, always gives me the shakes etc, i am willing on giving the salt thing a try but my line of thinking is what people can do if they have no access to inhalers

Seretide has a long acting reliever in it so you shouldn't need ventolin that much anyway. Might be worth getting an asthma review and having your dosage looked at. Do you use a spacer? I hated the things, but at my last review I was shown a much smaller one which is a lot less cumbersome so I'm happy using that. It's probably the reason I've got my dosage down. Ventolin gives me the shakes too. Really uncomfortable and disconcerting!

The salt pipe couldn't be used as a fast acting reliever if someone had an asthma attack. As much as I think the salt pipe could probably be a good long term therapy to take in conjunction with current medicine, having the back up of ventolin is really important and that's why I try and keep a small stock, even though I don't take it much at present.

My daughter hates the ventolin for the same reason, found the very cold air and rotting leaf and vegetation will compromise her breathing, at the first sign of respitory distress I make her drink hot strong expresso coffee followed by inhaling steam that has 2 or 3 drops of clarysage arromatherapy oil added to it, 9 times out of 10 it will alay symptoms enough that she dosent need the ventolin.

I've heard really good things about the salt therapy from people who have tried it.

ro2935, have you tried pine oil? Clary Sage is excellent, but pine oil is one that's reputed to be even better :)

I have Brittle asthma which is different to most asthmatics as it's much more severe, I was classed as type 1 when I was younger as attacks were regular but now I rarely show symptoms so would be a type 2 (attacks are sudden and without warning). When I was younger I practically lived on steroids and asthma medication as I was constantly sick with asthma and affected by other diseases I would pick up from my constant hospital visits, after an incident in hospital where no medication was working for me my parents took to using steam to deal with lesser symptoms though they always had the phone ready in one hand just in case.

I have bricanyl inhaler but I find the best way for me to 'treat' myself is to know my triggers so I can avoid them to prevent potential attacks, I only use the inhaler if I immediately need to which is quite rarely. I prefer to self-manage, use steam or drink something over using medication as I don't want my body to become used to it or dependent on it since it'll only make more problems.

I've never heard of salt therapy before so I might look it up and see how useful it might be for me.

I bought a salt pipe about 8 to 10 years ago, it contained rock salt and I found it to be very good sadly I dropped and broke it and never got round to buying another.
Last year I downloaded a free book online called, The Bodies Many Cries for Water, WOW, you got Lung Problems you need to read it RIGHT NOW.
Basically it's saying in short what we all know, we need to drink more water, ( no evidence required for that well known fact ) well it goes on to say also about the lack of salt we all mostly have, and how adding it to our water can help prevent lung issues.
Now Its talking about Sea Salt and to make it clear, NEVER USE TABLE SALT. and I mean NEVER for any thing, switch to sea salt for all forms of cooking. Table Salt is Poison.

I have used this method and it is fantastic, also it's the best I have felt in many years not just Lung Wise, but body, head and generally all over body health. Please read the free online Book. Search for The Bodies Many Cries for Water.pdf
I an not using this method at the moment because I'm experimenting with different Natural remedies and I don't want it to effect the results of other things i'm trying right now.
One of the fastest acting Lung helpers I have tried is Magnesium Chloride a Natural remedy and that also has a free book available on line, The Miracle of Magnesium.pdf
The thing I'm into at the moment is Hydrogen Peroxide and that also can be found online in the free book, The Miracle of Hydrogen Peroxide.pdf
I have mentioned theses things in another post on site and I have taken a lot of stick for it but I have used all these methods and I'm still here, it is my goal to try many more such things.
I am not saying you should start using these straight off, but I am saying it will cost you nothing to read the books
Anyone interested in how I use and apply these things just say I will be more than happy to explain but again read the free books 1st.
