A Big Hello from the East Coast of Scotland

Post by Purple_Shrimp0 »

Hi there,

Just your usual intro post here. Not quite sure how far I will take this prepping thing but this seems like a great little resource and I hate being a lurker on a forum!

I am totally brand new to prepping so plan to be as open minded as possible. Don't expect much personal experience posts from me but more questions so sorry if some are totally stupid!

My interest started in the run up to this winter. I got a new car (by new I mean different to what I was driving currently!) so decided to get myself a Car EDC sorted for driving in the winter. I drive a lot of miles between Dundee, Perth and Pitlochry. 90% of my driving is on main carriageways but should the weather get bad we all know that they quickly grind to a halt and you go no where depsite the roads being clear.

During my travels around the internet looking for advice on what to include I stumbled upon the Prepping scene (if that is best way to describe it) and it just really caught my attention.

I have since completed this first project and I am happy with what I have in my Car EDC. My next little project is to get a Personal EDC for myself sorted for when I am out and about. Alongside that I am putting myself on a first aid course in the new year. After the festive period I am going to be getting out and about camping more as it's something I only started doing this year which I really enjoyed and think it's a decent idea to spend more time doing, eventually heading more towards bushcraft skills.

I don't think I have a specific fear of what could go wrong or what to prep for (maybe that is a disadvantage?). I just want to be able to help in a situation if I come across it instead of being one of those people that just stand/pass by helplessly.

Thanks for reading and will no doubt be bothering you all with questions before long!

Hi Shrimpy :D

Welcome to forum - I'm fairly new here too, it's great to hear of others in the area. Hope you can find useful info around the forum - I certainly have!

Good to here your started on your "Car EDC" would be good to discuss what your have included - have a look in the Equipment forum and post your kit - its always good to get a second (or 20th  ) opinion on what you have :P..
