Saltines are an American cracker (like the Jacob's.... But with salt sprinkled on top).

You can buy them over here but they're not cheap and I'm not sure if they last any longer then British crackers.

Water Biscuits are the ones you'll find in the supermarket (Carr's is one brand)

Lastly theres Pilot Bread, one brand sold in the US is called "Sailor Boy" (98% of "Sailor Boy" total production is shipped to Alaska, the other two percent is probably bought by Preppers and lost Alaskans :lol: ). Apparently it lasts indefinitely in a sealed container
Its a version of hardtack, however it uses shortening (solid fats) to prevent the feeling you're trying to eat a pantile

Home made hardtack (using historical recipies) is difficult to eat (even taking modern dentistry into account)

I had some oatcakes in my preps, but they don't last because they go rancid (fats and wheatgerm I think)

I think I'm probably going to use Water Biscuits for BoB et al as they seem to be made from white flour (no wheatgerm) and water (with no fats) and I'm sure I can get them in small packets

Anyone who has had kids will know of rusks, namely farleys rusks. Stored dry in there packet they seem to last ages and when mixed with water and sugar or milk they mix to a porridge. Can be eaten hot or cold, just a modern take maybe?

I find Farley's too sweet (I don't like Digestives either), that said I used to know someone who was eating them in her late teens/early twenties because she didn't like bread

Just a thought about the size of these biscuits , rather than as mentioned making them to fit a pocket would it not be a good idea to make them to fit the mouth?
