axe or knife

At the moment my bag is about 20kg but weight is not a issue.

Then definitely have an axe as well, a large tree feller.
No use going off half cocked, you want the tools that will do the job. If weight is not an issue then your lucky.

I'd of thought something a little smaller then a full sized felling axe.

I did a thread in DIY & Handycrafts about how to 'hang'(re-handle) an axe.
Something about that size would be better, after all you're not going to be 'felling the mightiest oak in the forest' are you ?
