Just ventured over the border in to Wales and picked sixteen 20 litre buckets from a guy off the bay of Evil (all he had left today). We'll work out later what we will put into them.

May go back and get more and maybe even a couple of his 1000 litre IBCs, Link HERE

Also picked up coffee (Nescafe) and a couple of slabs of pasta sauces (500ml) @ 37p each

Am I being suspicious here, or do thay actually check on what we buy? I decided to pay by cash so that my details weren't registered. I must be getting paranoid!

Damkina - I just go to Tesco and load my trolley up and don't even think about it. I'm honestly of the opinion that you haven't got anything at all to worry about. I genuinely do not believe that ANYBODY is at all bothered about Mr and Mrs Average going about their business and buying a few extra tins/packets/boxes of candles. I think that TPTB or whoever it is that some people think has got us under surveillance (I would actually be intrigued to find out just who/what is that IS supposedly watching us... :tinfoil ) have probably got much bigger fish to fry.
I am not sure about that, when i go prep shopping i look at the sell by dates if there good i buy more then usual, i was out at a large supermarket this weekend and i am sure i had some one just browsing what i was doing, they never had a basket.
Its not the first time this has happend but that could be just me, .

Possibly a store detective, some supermarkets have a strict policy on the number of individual items you buy, Tesco have a policy of six items on some lines.

CCTV killed off most of the store detectives years ago and I'm pretty sure they didn't count how many packets of rice you were buying even then.

It's the till that manages bulk purchase restrictions along with buy-one-get-one-free promotions.

with the food crisis as it is at the moment supermarkets could start restricting bulk purchases, which would prevent any pannick buying. i think we should be aware and try not to make it to obvious what were upto, maybe prep shop mixed in with your normal shop.

I have never worried too much about shops noticing what I purchase as the quantities and types of things I buy isnt really going to alarm anyone, but if you are worried about it try and get a Cash&Carry Card for somewhere like Makro etc.

Lots of small shops purchase goods there so you wont stand out at all. You will generally need to own a business, be self employed, or get one through your company....but many people manage to get a card who aren't in any of those categories.
