Ring binders

Recently came across a great idea for a relitivly inexpensive prep that could be a real asset. The idea if that you go out and buy a few ring binders and plastic wallets, and fill them with google image satellite maps of your entire surround area as well as any areas of interest EG water sources/food sources, bug out locations and alternate bug out locations etc. Then in another ring binder you but loads of info about storing food, raising crops, mechanics, DIY projects, herbal medicine, edible plants and pretty much anything on the Internet of use to us preppers. This is a really easy way of compiling loads of info for free and it's all readily available on the Internet, however this might not always be the case so instead of buying hundreds of how to books why not just get printing and compile a prepping file. my wife came up with a similar idea , laminating all this info and filling it. i haven't got around to doing it yet,but good idea!!

I printed out a load of maps of the local area - if the power went off in a catastrophic way from any of the local towns I visit regularly, I'd know how to get home. I *have* just started a ring binder for *stuff* - radio frequencies, building a rocket stove from bricks, evaporative cooling to take the place of my fridge, stuff like that.

Yeah this really does have potential, the laminating is a class idea as well especially for more high use info such as maps. With this the possibilities stretch as far as you can print lol. Seriously though you could get all kinds of info on anything and everything prepping related.

I would advise you to skip the idea of a three ring binder.
The "rings" give way under hard use and the next thing you know, everything in the binder is loose and flying all over the place.
Better to use something like this:

Tape the wires down if you feel the need. Cover the pressboard covers with shelf liner and you've got a pretty impervious binder of material.
Slimmer too, since those binder rings in na 3 ring binder make a much thicker overall profile

I am quite partial to my ring binders I am on my 4th one at the moment

Im thinking about getting a little one for my bag with a few bare basics in there. All the little things that are handy to know to make navigation, shelter, ID, and other little bits and pieces. All the stuff that would fall out of my brain if i were say tired and cold or had banged my head.

Just need to find a happy medium, from something written on a box of matches to your 4 binders.

Currently its on my do tomorrow list haha

That looks good, is it waterproof? It dosent say in the description of it
