Surviving Disaster by Richard Duarte

I haven't yet read through all the book advise here so if this one's been covered apologies;

I bought "Surviving Disaster- A Guide For Surviving An Urban Disaster" by a chap called Richard Duarte and I'd definitely recommend it to others.

POSITIVES: The book is spread over 12 chapters covering everything from food, water, First Aid as well as all the bugs (Bugging in, Bugging out). There are also three Appendices including one for recommended books. The last Chapter concerns itself completely with lists of everything one might need so as a beginner I really liked that. It's clear, concise and informative. It is really a step by step guide, with strategies and tips. The guy who wrote it hasn't always been a Prepper but came to it after his family made it through Hurricane Andrew in Florida in 1992. There's a nice 24hr exercise he's come up with which is good to do.

NEGATIVES: As is often the way with Prepping books it is geared more for the American market so some subjects like home security for example feature advise on weapons that simply aren't available and illegal here. I guess when I came across bits like this I just changed the strategy slightly to make it more "domestic" as it were. Also some of the products found in the extensive lists aren't available here or would have to be ordered from the States but to be fair, a quick Google search brought up UK equivalents so wasn't that bad.

Overall I'd give it 9/10 IMHO but to be fair I'd only give a ten if it told me The Euromillions numbers. It's available on Amazon in paperback (£11.47p) or Kindle (£5.65p) so I would say add it to your library.
