I've already got 2 110s  but I've not got round to paint the desert pink yet

Stop picking on me.

I did see the shot gun and the 30 shot drum magazine but i was quickly informed I would have no chance of a section 1 30 shot 12 gauge. Shame

Was that the wife ? I think somewhere between 8 and 10 shots plenty, maybe not as cool, but plenty :D

No that was the police. I have no reason to require such a firearm 30,10 or 8 shot isn't given without a very good reason.

why?

Because he goes through enough one at a time or cycling them manually, give him a semi auto .308 or .223 and he would play like he does with a .22LR putting a box of 50 of .308s or .223s even 25 12 bore slugs beside him can be an expensive mistake if You let it be ( when he's got a job later he can buy em) Practical shotgun if it weren't for the recoil would be an issue too.
Thinking more about it I prefer more traditional shaped stocks ( I like a 10 round mag though) and bolt action rifles, target barrel yes but not high tech or military style, which leads me back to the OP air rifle, my first one long gone was a Diana break barrel simple iron sights, much like my current 20 year old BSA supersport carbine, and the club's bolt action BSA, they get the job done and have a tactile beauty about them, even in the simplest form with no decorative carving on the stock, good for us because they tend to be less expensive too :D
The original airgun in question may to those who like that sort of thing look cool, to those who know no different it may look menacing, but it wouldn't knock granny off of the P133 pot so is unfit for purpose, I'm not in the aggressive stance club and feel to try and deter by looking "hard" is simply painting a target on oneself (there's always a bigger fish) the grey man approach as many say here suits me and the real world much better, to further explain needs the background information that I have great respect for our armed forces and feel that dressing like them (may be OK if hunting game or pest control) is a bit of an insult, similar to a crap Elvis impersonator, Duck Dynasty further complicates the camouflage issue for me in that like Ozzy I feel for them, like them, find them amusing, but to dress like them may imply a similar disposition on the intelligence front  That and a couple of weeks back an idiot got caught going in the local woods after deer with a crossbow.

I pretty much always weigh in on shooting related threads because it was those threads and the sensible shooters here which stirred my interest to go down that road and have some fun, and fun (target shooting) is good enough reason to own things like high capacity shotguns, it matters not whether you have an air pistol, a bow and arrow, or an AX50, there are clubs in the UK you can go to and enjoy the sport for the fun ( and community ) that it is, outside that there is of course pest control and hunting with permission, shooting is a major sport, archery too in the UK, I keep saying at least be honest with yourself and do it or get on because you want one and want to have legitimate fun with it, in case TSHTF is not sufficient reason for me to have or desire anything which can be used as a weapon, neither does owning such things make me feel an awful lot safer, they do however give the family a shared hobby or two, a community to be a part of, find friends with similar interests, Steveo, Andy, Briggs, and all the other happy shooters around these parts are sensible responsible folk doing what they enjoy, join them and have fun

@Plymtom - I'd love to know how you could get a semi auto .308 or .223 on you FAC!

In reply to the OP, I would echo many of the comments made so far. If you fancy learning to shoot, buy a half decent air rifle, join a local club and enjoy your time learning how to use it.

A list of clubs here: http://www.airgunshooting.co.uk/gun-clubs

Well I didn't think I could- straight pull perhaps but not semi auto I thought they were banned in the 80s, I didn't check it out because I don't want one, my son might but as Mick says "You cain't always get what you want!" my slots will be filled with bolt actions because I like them, thanks for the link, even for people that have and like big bang sticks, airguns are still useful and fun ;)

They (.22 LR Semi-auto) can't be outright illegal because I travel to the UK with mine on a visitor's permit.

They aren't I've seen a few of these at the range converted Ruger 10/22s http://www.rimfiremagic.co.uk/rm-22-system.html and you can get these http://riflemags.co.uk/ruger-10-22-25-r ... ine-bx-25/ and these http://riflemags.co.uk/gsg-110-round-22 ... 10-22-fit/for them, even the standard ones, I'm happy enough with 10 at a time myself even at around £3 for 50 those things can get expensive.

.22LR is the only semi auto rifle that is legal in this country for joe public. I never wanted to raise the issue with Plytom as he was only speculating if his son had one how much he would spend on ammo.

You're right Steveo even though the advert in the link appeared like it might at a glance, the required change in the law would have gotten many exited and I would have gotten wind of it, there is a way you can fire pistols in the UK, you have to have your own and keep it at the club, which is further than my elastic band will stretch, air rifle wise I think eventually a pre charged one may be on the shopping list, but it's a long way off :D
