As Janson said in a previous thread we are in the middle of a slow motion car crash and I am no where near being ready for the fallout!

So what can I do to make my home 'prepper ready'? I will continue to add to my food and water stocks, finish my projects (clay oven) etc, and learn as much as I can. I will consider home security and winter proofing.

So instead of dreaming, what will you do????????????
I with ya! First of all I have lots of grub. Then water storage and more importantly, water catchment and replenishment. I have 500 gallon waterbutt capacity spread round various outbuildings. Then the livestock, rabbits and soon some more laying fowls. I pit in a woodstove 10 yrs. ago- good move that. Security lights, strong security doors and windows-also thermally efficient.

Rambling now...I reckon if you were to keep food in,water, and have a way to keep warm if the power goes off,you are pretty well fixed. You don't ,or perhaps can't,have an open fire or stove. So how about a "Super Ser" style gas heater. You can set one of these up for about a hundred quid. The gas lasts for ages, and when funds allow a spare bottle can be laid in.
A water butt holds 50 gallons, and you can get one for thirty quid. The old mantra is a gallon a day per person-a good ten days for a family of four. Some Tesco thin bleach(29p) and it can be disinfected.
All that tin food needs warming up,cheap campstove will do the job. £1 buys a can opener-you do have a spare? Wind up or battery radio to get info-very important. Torch and wind up lantern/candles-last choice dor fire safety reasons. Spare batteries-poundland,and lighters too.
Warm and waterproof clothes, basic toolkit(again ,poundland have some durable kit)

It doesn't have to cost a mint. And here's a challenge-I bet most have a lot of this kit,or something to adapt, lying around. Ramble over.

Exactly Jansman, keeping prepping simple. Water, food and warmth first, then build on from that. Most of us will have to be content with the shelter we have and adapt to live with that, so to speak!

The time is over to look at things with rose tinted glasses - clear specs are what is needed!!! :|

However epic it is I wouldn't bite, it says the owners are not leaving the area so if the shtf being heavily armed Yankees they would properly just go there and take it back, they get the security of having you caring for there preps and they get $600000. Clever ones at the least  or am I just paranoid
