water filter for B.O.B

Has any one got a lifesaver jerry can yet they look marvelous and according to the blurb can last a family of four three years.

The Lifesaver bottles seem like a great piece of kit but a bit bulky to keep in my bob; I'm still looking for a decent used Katadyn on eBay.

Those bobbles would be useful to use in tandem with water purifying tabs. I know the water purifying tabs are chlorine based and not for "long term" usage - how ever long may be - but if you then used the bobble to remove the chlorine traces from the water then i would guess that they become more useful.

Pingu, the same thing is suggested with the Berkey/Berkefeld filter systems - if the water is very bad then you add chlorine and then filter it through the system which removes the chlorine and anything else left. Makes sense. But lifesaver works the same way without the need for chlorine. Yes, it is big for a bob but then again it stores your water as well and I would say that 1L of water in a bob is minimum, lifesaver has a 750ml capacity.

For me there is only one portable - Lifesaver bottle. You can even p*ss in it and drink it without any second thoughts

But don't go buying it on the official website. I bought 2 brand new ones on ebay - first one for £54 with postage and second £45 with postage - that's just robbery There's a lot of squadies that get these when going out on missions but end up not even unpacking them so they sell these cheap on ebay. OK ok ok ,silly i know ,...but if i had lots of water to drink to start and was all flushed out ,... and i started to pee in to the bottle how long would that cycle last ,before i had to use cleaner water ...in the bottle ,...so pee,clean in bottle ,drink ,pee ,..clean in bottle ,drink ,... etc etc any ideas
