Certainly not the hi velocity rounds at close range, the shotgun pellets can be stopped with a good wax jacket, and an assortment of winter jumpers, as my cousin found out when he was shot a few years ago, badly bruised, and damaged jacket, but still alive and kicking.Maddosammo wrote: Also a bullet proof vest, probably wouldnt stop big rounds like you would encounter over here, like rifles and shotguns, where it would most likely go trough without a ceramic plate insert.
A lot of the earlier, 1st Gulf war, military grade bullet proof jackets aren't or weren't, without the ceramic plate, able to stop a high velocity round going in, but will slow it enough to stop it going back out again, they do hold everything in though until a medic or surgeon is available
Must admit if I was the person with the rifle looking at stopping someone wearing a bullet proof jacket I would go for a leg, arm or head shot as these tend not to be as well protected, hopefully it won't get to that.
