Cheers for the feedback. i agree, being a web designer it hurt my eyes to go round this site also i found it even more amusing that they are trying to charge £6000 for a home made shelter that the plans can be gained freely onlune http://www.bunkershield.co.uk/pricing-a ... ptions.php

I think the considered wisdom as far as prepping sites go is that an all out ground nuclear war is very improbable, but that a high air burst that forms an EMP and takes out all the electronic gizmos(including the computer chip in your car) is a possibility.

Well thank goodness for that, since 'THREADS' I have know that living next door to Gatwick airport is sort of the end of me, but according to their map neither gatwick or heathrow are a target, so the downs may help protect me some instead

Since the 1950s it has been the site of several nuclear research establishments, including a prototype fast breeder reactor and a test for submarine reactors.
The problem with deploying nuclear weapons against nuclear facilities is that they are, not unsurprisingly, hardened against the effects of a nuclear detonation (both air and ground burst). Hence the reason both we and the Russians had plans to deploy Special Forces against nuclear facilities in the event of the Cold War going hot.

I claim no knowledge of the facility in question. However, I would be greatly surprised, and more than a little worried, if they were carrying out the work you describe without a good deal of protection.

Much as I would love to build an extension and incorporate a hidden, cavernous basement as an on-site BOL, I'm not planning on surviving past a nuclear explosion given that we have Trident on our doorstep. Toast, anyone? However, I do think there will be massive nuclear deployment elsewhere which will impact catastrophically on us.

The truth be told , all known ones are now useless and decommissioned due to increased strength of weapons , plus there known locations will be a magnet for survivor s or t hoes wanting shelter. Apart from that , and there cost I would love one

Looking at that map, and with events in Ukraine, I might relocate to Aberystwyth. As long as the sea level doesn't rise. Maybe Aberystwyth in a houseboat? Shocking website - must be cowboy builders.

So I take it you don't shop at Poundland because its not as good as Harrods then? I've read their mission statement, they are really trying to save peoples lives and they even offer FREELY instructions to build basic shelters. Building their website as cheaply as possible is a way of cutting needles costs. Is this all you can do (sit behind a keyboard and troll)? At least they are trying to do something!

Look- a one poster calling a nine poster a troll, can we at least get to know you both before you start bun fighting? I haven't read the mission statement nor looked at the quality of their product, but have to say it is the latter on which companies are generally judged and upon which good reputations are built, I am reminded somewhat of the old monty python sketch "is this the right room for an argument"
