Thank you, Alley! Your link reminded me about a line of thought that I would like to share. If the SHTF very fast there will be plenty of angry people speaking the "wrong" language, regardless of what language you speak... Would it be a smart, or rather cunning, to start to use a neutral language like Esperanto? :oops:

I find that having studied Latin helps me pick up other European languages easily. I'd love to have a go at Esperanto.
However, English seems to be spoken by most people in Europe, I don't think there would be problems communicating here.
If I was with people who couldn't speak English I'd have to resort to drawing pictures. Or just speaking English louder ;)

I see this "speaking louder" strategy now and then, not only English people use it :D

There is a lot of Latin in Esperanto, you would not have any problem learning Esperanto, Alley!
